Temple 3 Series Scales | ||
NOTE: The "Temple" series has now been replaced with the "Temple 3" series.
The Temple 3 series are 18" 13 note Zen Tambour tuned using Sympathetic resonance: Sympathetic resonance is a harmonic phenomenon wherein a formerly passive note responds to external vibrations to which it has a harmonic likeness. If two notes are tuned to the same frequency, and one is struck, the other (non-struck) one will respond. What is done on the "Temple 3" series is to take the upper two notes and tune one note to the octave of that given scale and the other note to the fifth of that given scale. As the scale already has both octave and fifths on the scale, this creates two sets of Sympathetic notes. So on.. lets say the E3 Major Pentatonic scale I will tune it to ( B2, E3, F#3, G#3, B3, C#4, E4, F#4, G#4, B4, C#4, E3, B3 ). This causes the "Sympathetic resonance" to happen with a total of 4 notes. Not only does the Zen now have a nice "Sympathetic resonance" or "Temple" sound, but also will cause the Zen to have a background "drone". This "Drone" is something that is very common in meditation work. |
